22 Feb Episode #28: Hobie Call’s Secret Sauce Workouts, Training For The Survival Course, Fast Recovery Tips & More!

In this episode, Ben and Hunter bring on the legendary obstacle racing champion Hobie Call to talk training, nutrition and more. We also field questions from listeners, including:

Solo asks: How to train for the Fuego Y Agua Survival Run (80k+ Obstacle/Adventure/Ultramarathon Race), including climbing, swimming/diving, jungle rivers & lakes, carrying all sorts of things, digging, running brutal terrain, throwing, memorizing, and surviving in this epic event.

Jayna asks: How can you recover as fast as possible after a Beast…

Anonymous asks: What’s the most inconvenient truth that is going to make you an amazing athlete but that not everybody wants to hear (e.g. if you want to get faster/better with hard work vs. simple solutions, what kind of hard work is going to give you the most bang for your buck)

Thank you so much for answering my question! I wish I would have asked something more serious like, if you could use one superpower to get through one obstacle what would that one superpower and obstacle be? But in all seriousness, I totally forgot to thank you guys for your awesome podcast and all of the time and effort you two put into giving us listeners amazing tips, techniques and interviews to keep us passionate/excited about OCR. I was hoping for a kiss but it looks like Joe DeSena beat me to it! Hope to see you guys at some races up in NorthCal this year. Keep on biohacking Ben and being macho Hunter!

Great episode! Good to hear from the “godfather” himself…looking forward to trying his “secret sauce” workout myself…though 4:20 pace is too fast for me…I’ve got the Spartan Beast at Mountain Creek in NJ soon so I’ve gotta get after it…thanks for the tips!
