Season Three; Episode 27: Spartan Worlds Drama

14 Oct Season Three; Episode 27: Spartan Worlds Drama

This episode stinks a bit of our TMZ-esque compadres (ORM) as we discuss the drama that took place online (as usual) surrounding Ryan Woods, newly re-crowned Spartan World Champ Robert Killian and bully-battling Aaron Newell…with a valuable call to action by Brakken.

Nice episode. Thanks. I watched the Spartan World Championship (twice) and I read most of the Facebook and Instagram posts but I didn’t hear (or read) about all the drama … until I listened to your podcast. I just have one comment to make:

I Seriously Do Not Think Burpees Should Be Removed! I feel very strongly about that. I agree with Joe in saying that the Burpee is the perfect exercise and it’s a great motivator (“boy! I better dig down deep and complete this obstacle otherwise I’ll have to do 30 burpees)

The issue concerning the “chest to ground” burpees can be solved very easily – Hand Release. The truth is, anyone can tell if another persons chest has touched the ground or not – if that person is truly paying attention. But if you wanna make sure they did then change the Burpee form to include Hand Release Push Ups. It is nearly impossible to do a hand release push up with your chest touching the ground. Burpees are a staple of the Spartan Race and it’s one of the things that make the Spartan Races unique among all the other OCRs..

Keep up the great podcasting Brakken. I hope to meet you at one of the Stadion races (I focus on those races for now)
